ANNA BIMER

 I graduated with a master’s degree in printmaking from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1989, under the supervision of professor Halina Chrostowska.

I’m a painter and graphic designer (book cover design). I draw and paint on paper. It’s my natural habitat. The whiteness, shade, and structure of paper seduces and intimidates. It’s full of anticipation. For me, the creative process combines instinct, craftsmanship, the culture one grew up in, and a sort of creative feverishness. Everything happens fast. It combines consciousness and subconsciousness, fear and pleasure. It’s like a bodily function. You can’t live without it.
